Overview
Faegre Drinker represents both surplus lines carriers and producers, helping them navigate the state laws governing licensing requirements and restrictions, regulatory and stamping office filings and tax provisions, independently procured coverage rules, and restrictions surrounding producer compensation. We count among our clients the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA), the national trade association representing the surplus lines industry. We represent WSIA in meetings with regulators and lawmakers and help educate decisionmakers on actual and anticipated ramifications of federal policies. Consistent with our standing as an authority on surplus lines, we monitor associated legislative and regulatory proceedings, manage relationships with members of Congress and their staffs, and serve as a point of contact among our clients and throughout the industry on related questions and issues.
