Lica Tomizuka Named a 2013 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow
Press Release
Lica Tomizuka of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP has been selected for the 2013 Fellows Program created by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.
Tomizuka, a partner in the real estate and construction group at Faegre Baker Daniels, joins a class of 160 attorneys from around the country. Fellows were chosen by the managing partners and general counsel of the law firms and corporate legal departments they serve and have distinguished themselves by demonstrating strong performance and leadership skills. The program will connect these high-potential attorneys with managing partners and general counsel of preeminent organizations for a year-long professional development program that focuses on relationship-building and leadership skills.
"Lica is an incredible legal talent and an asset to the legal industry, our firm and her community," said Andrew Humphrey, managing partner of Faegre Baker Daniels. "We know she will flourish through this professional development opportunity and continue contributing to the expansion of diversity in the legal industry."
Tomizuka counsels clients on acquisitions, dispositions, development, real estate financing and real estate equity investment. In the community, she chairs the board of YouthCARE, a nonprofit that develops educational, employment and leadership programs and services for urban youth from diverse backgrounds. The organization's after-school and summer activities help youth acquire life and career skills, increase understanding and respect for self and others, and transition successfully to adulthood.
Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 200 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners dedicated to creating a truly diverse legal profession. According to LCLD Executive Director Robert J. Grey Jr, the LCLD Fellows Program offer participants "an extraordinarily rich year of relationship-building, virtual and in-person training, peer-group projects and extensive contact with LCLD's top leadership."
