Drinker Biddle Continues Corporate and Securities Growth with Addition of Tax Partner Sean FitzGerald in Washington, D.C.
Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP today announced that Sean M. FitzGerald has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C., office as a partner on the Business Tax team in the Corporate and Securities group. FitzGerald comes to the firm from Latham & Watkins LLP.
FitzGerald’s practice focuses on domestic and cross-border transactional tax matters. He has considerable experience representing and advising private equity funds and other clients regarding the structuring and implications of, and negotiating the relevant documentation related to, a broad array of tax-free and taxable domestic and cross-border transactions, including mergers, asset and entity acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, internal restructurings, private equity fund formations and operations, securities offerings and structured financings.

FitzGerald has acted as tax counsel for a number of investment fund sponsors regarding a variety of matters, including Highstar Capital Partners, Denham Capital, Juniper Capital, and LLR Partners.

The 25th partner to join Drinker Biddle in 2019, FitzGerald follows the recent additions of Corporate and Securities partners James Fitzsimmons, in Florham Park, New Jersey, and Alex Yim and Peter Gennuso, in New York, New York.
FitzGerald earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, and his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
