Faegre Drinker Strengthens Real Estate Practice With Counsels Shane Barnes and Richard Hayes

Faegre Drinker announced today that Shane Barnes and Richard Hayes have joined the firm as counsel in the real estate practice group. Barnes joins the firm in the Minneapolis office from U.S. Bank National Association, where he served as assistant general counsel and vice president. Hayes returns to the firm in the Indianapolis office from Duke Realty Corporation, where he served as senior vice president, legal and assistant secretary, and was formerly with Baker & Daniels from 2006-2008.

Barnes provides guidance for clients engaged in the sale and purchase of commercial real estate, leasing for retail, industrial and office spaces and real estate financing. He works with clients to perform real estate due diligence and drafts and negotiates loan purchase agreements.

“Shane’s extensive experience in commercial real estate transactions will provide a highly valuable addition to our team and help us to serve our clients’ business objectives,” said Scott Anderegg, leader of the firm’s real estate practice group. “We are thrilled to welcome Shane to Faegre Drinker.”

Hayes partners with clients and offers guidance on their real estate transactional needs. He draws on in-house experience to meet clients’ legal needs while keeping their short- and long-term business goals with regards to real estate in mind. Hayes represents a broad range of real estate clients including purchasers and sellers, landlords and tenants, and borrowers and lenders in drafting documents and mitigating disputes between parties.

Barnes earned his bachelor’s degree from Huntingdon College and his Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Hayes earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University and his Juris Doctor from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.
