Overview

Philadelphia associate Brooke Razor presented at “Don’t Be Spooked by H.R. Compliance: the Small to Mid-Sized Employer’s HR Survival Kit” jointly held by the Human Resource Association of Southern New Jersey and the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce on October 29, 2019, in Sewell, NJ. Brook’s presentation, titled “Wage and Hour Issues,” reviewed employee misclassification issues, including exempt versus non-exempt employees, independent contractors, Department of Labor audits and investigations, and other common violations.

The full-day program, geared toward human resources professionals in small to mid-sized companies, reviewed information needed to manage the life cycle of an employee. Additional topics included a legal update; the essentials of hiring and onboarding; notices, training, and handbook essentials; how to practice safe benefits management; and top discipline and discharge considerations.
