While unclaimed property audits and issues are becoming more prominent throughout the country, Delaware, largely because of its popularity as a state of incorporation, has been and continues to be a hotbed for issues and one of the most active states with respect to audits. This article focuses on Delaware’s unclaimed property voluntary disclosure programs, and in particular its new, more “holder-friendly” program enacted in 2012 and recently extended by the Delaware General Assembly.
