Overview
Maddie Augustus is a registered lobbyist skilled in public policy strategy development and implementation. Based in Indiana, she collaborates closely with a diverse array of clients ranging from corporations and associations to nonprofits, guiding them through the complexities of both state and federal government processes. Maddie’s experience spans legislative branch lobbying, executive branch consulting and procurement strategies, ensuring clients’ interests are effectively represented and advanced.
With a robust network encompassing government officials, policymakers and industry stakeholders, Maddie excels in relationship-building and coalition formation. She orchestrates advocacy efforts through the organization of strategic meetings, hearings and other critical events, fostering engagement and consensus among key decision-makers.
At the forefront of client engagement, Maddie leads regular calls and stakeholder meetings, delivering updates and crafting tailored communications. Her proficiency extends to drafting comprehensive materials such as client newsletters, policy position papers and advocacy documents, equipping clients with the insights needed to navigate regulatory landscapes and achieve their objectives effectively.
Prior Experience
Before joining Faegre Drinker, Maddie was senior director of government affairs at an Am Law 200 firm. Prior to that, she served the Insurance Institute of Indiana as director of government relations, where Maddie managed the legislative responsibilities for the Indiana Association of Health Plans, including creation of the legislative agenda, drafting of legislation and amendments, and advocating and testifying before the Indiana General Assembly. Through this role, Maddie developed relationships with key health care sector stakeholders and various state agencies, including the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) and the Department of Health. Maddie started her career as a legislative assistant in the Indiana House of Representatives, serving three Republican members, and served as the finance assistant in the House Republican Campaign Committee, serving all House Republican members with fundraising efforts across the state.
Personal Interests
In her free time, Maddie enjoys spending time with her friends and family (husband Eric, daughter Winnie and two black lab mixes, Aggie and Chloe), watching movies, playing soccer, and going to her favorite local breweries.
