Steve Bennett protects the products and reputations of innovators and manufacturers. He represents clients in product liability and mass tort litigation in state and federal courts across the country.
In addition to his extensive litigation experience, Steve often serves as settlement counsel during mass tort litigation. He is experienced in strategically negotiating favorable settlements when resolving a matter early advances clients’ business interests. Steve also counsels companies on risk management strategies, including document and email management.
As trusted settlement counsel and mass tort strategist for some of the world’s most sophisticated manufacturers of medical device, pharmaceutical and consumer products, Steve has served in leadership roles in more than a dozen mass tort litigations, including:
- Settled a major multidistrict litigation (MDL) and state-coordinated proceeding involving allograft products on behalf of a global producer of medical devices.
- Served as settlement and strategy counsel, negotiating a global settlement in a hip implant MDL on behalf of an international medical device manufacturer.
- Coordinated settlement and strategy, negotiating a global settlement in a knee implant MDL on behalf of a global producer of medical implants.
- Acted as settlement counsel, negotiating a global settlement in a pelvic repair systems MDL on behalf of an international medical device manufacturer.
- Served as settlement and strategy counsel to a major medical device company in an IVC filter MDL.
- Coordinated settlement and strategy in a sprawling metal-on-metal hip implant mass tort on behalf of an international medical device manufacturer.
- Acted as settlement counsel on behalf of a major medical device manufacturer in mesh implant litigation.
- Served as settlement and strategy counsel, negotiating a global settlement in an MDL involving an orthopaedic hip system on behalf of an international medical device manufacturer.
- Acted as settlement counsel in an MDL involving recalled hip and knee systems on behalf of a medical device manufacturer.
- Served as settlement counsel for a national retail pharmacy chain in a high-profile pharmaceutical litigation.
- Serving as settlement counsel on behalf of a health care company in an MDL involving medical equipment.
- Coordinated the defense and obtained early dismissal in a significant environmental MDL for a gas station chain.
- Acted as settlement counsel in multidistrict app-based litigation on behalf of a technology company.
