Mario Andres Gaviria, Ph.D.

Patent Agent

Overview

Mario A. Gaviria helps clients secure intellectual property protection for innovative chemical technologies. Mario drafts, files and prosecutes patent applications for diverse chemical inventions in the United States and international jurisdictions. He also works with patent attorneys to conduct freedom-to-operate analyses, patent infringement and validity investigations, and patent landscapes. Mario completed his dissertation on the total synthesis of complex natural products and has experience in all areas of chemistry — particularly organic, pharmaceutical and polymer chemistry.

Previous Experience

Prior to joining Faegre Drinker, Mario worked as a scientific advisor and patent agent at a boutique IP law firm in Chicago. He assisted clients with patent matters for various chemical technologies. During graduate school, Mario worked at the Office of Technology Transfer at the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor as a tech transfer fellow, where he assisted with the early technical and commercial evaluation of new inventions.
