Overview
Alec Harris represents clients in complex commercial litigation, False Claims Act (FCA) litigation and class actions. His clients are in many industries, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, life sciences, health care, telecommunications, consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, agriculture, finance, digital advertising, retail and hospitality. Alec works to achieve positive outcomes for his clients in high-stakes disputes across the United States.
Complex Commercial Litigation
Alec represents clients in a variety of complex business disputes, including trade secret litigation, breach of contract claims, disputed business acquisitions, contested joint venture agreements, litigation among and within closely held limited liability companies, indemnification disputes, bid-rigging lawsuits, receivership disputes, unfair competition, and other business torts. He regularly represents clients in federal and state courts across the country.
False Claims Act Litigation
Alec defends some of the largest pharmaceutical and life sciences companies in litigation involving the federal FCA and similar state whistleblower statutes. He regularly litigates multimillion-dollar FCA cases involving allegations of heath care fraud asserted by the U.S. Department of Justice, state attorneys general and private relators.
Class Action Litigation
He defends large companies in class action litigation across the country, with a focus on mislabeling claims in the consumer product space. On behalf of his clients, Alec has secured multiple dismissals of putative nationwide, multimillion-dollar class action lawsuits.
Prior Experience
Before joining Faegre Drinker, Alec was a litigation partner at a national law firm with offices in Denver, Colorado. Alec also previously worked as a staff attorney at Harvard Law School’s Predatory Lending and Consumer Protection Clinic, as a fellow assistant attorney general at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, and as a law clerk with the Colorado Supreme Court.
Personal Interests
Outside the office, Alec enjoys rock climbing, biking, motorcycles, skiing and spending time with his family.

Pro Bono
Alec has an active pro bono practice. In the past, he has worked with the Korey Wise Innocence Project to evaluate possible classes of wrongful conviction, helped a minority-owned small business escape a predatory lease, and represented dozens of low-income students of for-profit colleges seeking student loan forgiveness.
