Rachel Phillips provides legal insight and guidance to nonprofit organizations.
Past Experience
Rachel has experience advising nonprofit organizations through her work at a law firm and a Big Four accounting firm in Washington, D.C. She served tax-exempt organizations on matters ranging from entity formation, to federal and state tax-exemption, and exempt-organization compliance with federal and local tax laws. Rachel also counseled clients on issues related to charitable solicitation and cause-related marketing efforts.
Prior to her time with Faegre Drinker, Rachel served as a staff attorney for the Indiana Department of Child Services, providing legal advice and services on juvenile law matters relating to child welfare. She represented the state in child in need of services cases, termination of parental rights, adoptions and other general legal issues relating to the safety of children.
Personal Interests
Rachel has an interest in international humanitarian work. Before law school, she worked for a nonprofit organization that served children and families in HIV/AIDS-affected communities in Eswatini, Africa (formerly known as Swaziland).
