Overview
Prior Experience
Hafsa first joined Faegre Drinker as a summer associate, with rotations in the health care, insurance, product liability and mass torts, and corporate law teams. She actively supported the firm’s health care group by researching and drafting a 50-state survey on notice requirements for health care transactions and researched and drafted memoranda on fee-splitting laws in medicine.
During law school, Hafsa completed a judicial externship with Chief Judge Patrick Schiltz at the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, where she analyzed court proceedings and conducted legal research. She also completed a legal externship with Boston Scientific, where she drafted legal memoranda on compliance, reviewed vendor forms for potential risk, and helped ensure vendor forms were in compliance with federal and state law. While in law school, Hafsa served as secretary of the Black Law Students Association, associate editor on her law school’s Journal of Law and Public Policy, and in the St. Thomas Special Education Clinic as a certified student attorney.
Before law school, Hafsa worked at HealthPartners in their Government Programs department supporting members and patients enrolled in government plans like Medicare and Medicaid as they navigated their health insurance. She was a recipient of the 2019 HealthPartners’s President’s Award, in recognition of her work supporting Medicare members as they navigated their new Medicare Advantage plans after a federal law eliminated their previous Medicare Cost health plans.
