Honeywell International Inc. and its subsidiaries, Intermec, Inc. and Intermec Technologies Corporation, reached a settlement to protect their information in a trade secret case involving a former employee. Our firm represented Honeywell and its subsidiaries in the litigation and in disciplinary proceedings against the former employee before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Paul Maltseff was intellectual property counsel to Intermec, Inc., which Honeywell acquired in 2013. Maltseff was responsible for managing Intermec’s patent portfolio, which exposed Maltseff to Intermec’s confidential and trade secret information. After resigning from Intermec, Maltseff joined Datalogic, one of Intermec and Honeywell’s competitors. The plaintiffs sued Maltseff and sought a preliminary injunction barring Maltseff from working on Datalogic technologies that were closely related to Intermec technologies. The court denied Maltseff’s motion to dismiss and then his motion for summary judgment.
