Hormel Foods Corporation acquired Applegate Farms, LLC in a deal valued at $775 million. The deal closed in early July 2015, with our firm advising Hormel.
This was the largest purchase Hormel had taken on at the time, out-valuing the $700 million acquisition of Skippy® in 2013 and 2014’s $450 million acquisition of CytoSport Holdings, the maker of Muscle Milk®. Applegate Farms owns the Applegate brand, a leader in the natural and organic value-added prepared meals category.
