Overview

Drawing on more than 20 years of software and electronics industry experiences, an academic background in multiple technological fields, and experience as in-house intellectual property counsel for a multinational corporation, Christina Huang helps clients to define and develop business-minded strategies to protect and grow their IP assets and mitigate IP related risks. With advanced degrees in computer science and electrical engineering, Christina is passionate about helping innovators develop and protect the technologies and products that drive their business and the marketplace forward. Additionally, she provides comprehensive IP services to clients, including patent drafting and prosecution, freedom-to-operate and invalidity opinions, IP agreement drafting and negotiations, inter partes review, and patent and copyright litigation. Further, Christina advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, strategic transactions, and investments.

In-House IP Counsel at 3M

Prior to joining Faegre Drinker, Christina served as primary intellectual property counsel for billion-dollar divisions at 3M Company and led a global team with members in Germany, the U.K., Japan, China, India and Brazil. She managed the IP aspects of major business strategies and challenges, including establishing effective IP strategies with ROI optimization, negotiating million-dollar deals, conducting IP due diligence and transaction negotiation for a $1 billion acquisition, and supporting various patent and IP disputes.

Technical Experience

Before beginning her career in law, Christina served as a software specialist at 3M, where she led the development of software systems and applications, including, for example, a software solution designed to analyze and visualize measurement and inspection data and an embedded software designed to process and analyze sensor data. She also served as a research assistant working on object recognition and pattern recognition projects using machine learning at the Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition Lab at Shantou University in China. While studying at Tshinghua University in China, Christina designed and developed a portable fetal ECG monitor for her senior project collaborating with a medical device company.
