Overview

Jennifer Montan represents public and privately held corporations and shareholders in federal and state courts in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters, including federal securities law, class action and multidistrict litigation defense, breach of contract and restrictive covenant, breach of fiduciary duty, and defamation disputes.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

Jenn drafts legal documents at various stages of litigation, including pleadings, dispositive and evidentiary motions, written discovery, mediation statements, trial motions and briefs, and appellate briefs. She manages document reviews and productions in response to discovery requests, including determining search parameters, evaluating privilege issues, supervising teams of attorneys performing review, conducting quality and privilege checks, and creating privilege logs.

  • Represented a corporation in a six-week complex commercial litigation trial to a successful verdict, and assisted at all stages including witness and exhibit preparation, pre-trial motion practice, and drafting trial-related documents and motions.
  • Represented and advised a public university regarding COVID-19 vaccine-related issues, including student and employee vaccine mandates and vaccine administration under state and federal law.

Prior Experience

Jenn served as a law clerk to Justice Barry T. Albin of the Supreme Court of New Jersey. During law school, she was a summer associate at Faegre Drinker.

Personal Interests

Jenn enjoys spending time with her dog, listening to Beyoncé and watching NFL football.

  • Represented a former detainee in a civil rights action for inadequate medical care
  • Assisted on an amicus brief to a state supreme court challenging life without parole sentences
  • Represented affirmative asylum applicant in hearing on the merits before the immigration court
  • Represented client in removal proceedings before the Board of Immigration Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit
  • Conducted intake interviews and provided representation to detainees in immigration detention centers in bond hearings
