Megan S. Herber
Principal - Faegre Drinker Consulting
Overview
Recognized as a telehealth policy leader in Washington D.C., Megan speaks and writes on the topic extensively, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic ushered in significant policy changes around the delivery of remote care. Megan is also well-versed in a broad range of federal health policy topics including Medicare, Medicaid, CMS rulemaking, HHS agency funding through the appropriations process, the FDA’s patient-focused drug development process and other digital health topics.
Megan is a registered lobbyist for most of her clients, but her teams offer clients much more than solely direct lobbying. With the end goal of patient access to high quality health care always at the forefront, advocacy means finding solutions to problems and knowing how to navigate the government to successfully resolve problems and advance goals.
Government Experience
Prior to joining Faegre Drinker, Megan was legislative director for U.S. Representative Doris Matsui (D-CA), handling her health care portfolio on the prominent House Energy & Commerce Committee. In that role, she was a leader on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Telehealth Working Group and assisted the Congresswoman in leading multiple pieces of bipartisan telehealth legislation, including provisions around telehealth for substance use disorder that became law. Megan’s background as a former congressional staffer provides value to clients as she is familiar with the policymaking process and maintains relationships with key congressional staff. While pursuing her Master of Public Health, Megan served as health policy legislative fellow for former Sen. John Rockefeller IV (D-WV).
Prior Experience
Megan started off her career in health care financial consulting for hospital clients based in California, which gave her a deep understanding of hospital business issues, including billing and coding, contracting, and compliance with government programs. Megan has a Master of Public Health from George Washington University.
Personal Interests
Megan enjoys adventures with her husband and two daughters, including the everyday adventures of raising young children. When she has free time, Megan enjoys travelling, playing recreational soccer, house projects and trashy TV.
